The programme
The Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) programme recognises young people between the ages of 18 and 40 who demonstrate outstanding achievement, leadership and positive impact in their communities and fields of work.
Through ten award categories, TOYP highlights individuals whose accomplishments contribute to social, economic, cultural, scientific and humanitarian progress.
JCI Dutch Caribbean uses the programme to celebrate inspiring young leaders from across the Dutch Caribbean, give visibility to their achievements and encourage other young people to take active roles in creating positive change. The programme also connects local recognition to the wider JCI TOYP initiative and its tradition of recognising young active citizens whose work creates meaningful and lasting impact.
Nominees must be between 18 and 40 years old.
JCI Dutch Caribbean is the national organisation coordinating the TOYP programme across its network of Local Organisations in the Dutch Caribbean. Through TOYP, JCI Dutch Caribbean provides a platform to identify, recognise and celebrate young people whose leadership, achievements and service create positive impact. The national organisation coordinates the nomination and recognition process together with its Local Organisations and promotes the accomplishments of outstanding young people throughout the region.
Ten award categories
Each nominee is nominated under one of ten categories. Choose the category that best reflects their most significant accomplishments.
Recognises outstanding achievement in business, entrepreneurship or economic development. Nominees may have created or grown enterprises, introduced innovative business solutions, generated opportunities or made a meaningful contribution to economic progress.
Nominate in this categoryRecognises young people demonstrating exceptional leadership or achievement in public service, law, governance or policy. Their work should show meaningful contribution to institutions, civic life, justice or effective government.
Nominate in this categoryRecognises exceptional achievement in education, scholarship, research or academic leadership. Nominees may distinguish themselves through academic excellence, educational innovation, research or contributions that advance learning and knowledge.
Nominate in this categoryRecognises significant contributions to arts, culture, heritage or creative expression. Nominees should demonstrate excellence while helping preserve, develop or promote cultural identity and appreciation.
Nominate in this categoryRecognises leadership grounded in strong ethical values or meaningful action for environmental sustainability. Nominees may inspire responsible behaviour, protect natural resources or lead initiatives that create lasting environmental or ethical impact.
Nominate in this categoryRecognises significant work advancing the well-being of children, peace, equality, dignity or human rights. Nominees should demonstrate measurable commitment to creating safer, fairer and more inclusive communities.
Nominate in this categoryRecognises exceptional service to others through humanitarian action, volunteering or community leadership. Nominees should demonstrate sustained commitment, mobilisation of others and positive impact on people or communities in need.
Nominate in this categoryRecognises achievement in science, technology, innovation or applied research. Nominees may have developed new solutions, advanced technical knowledge or used science and technology to address important challenges.
Nominate in this categoryRecognises an inspiring journey of personal growth and exceptional achievement, particularly where significant challenges have been overcome. The nominee’s development and accomplishments should serve as an example of determination, resilience and positive contribution.
Nominate in this categoryRecognises outstanding innovation or achievement in medicine, healthcare or health-related research. Nominees may have improved care, developed new approaches or contributed solutions that positively affect health and well-being.
